I was reading this in class and heard people murmuring behind me. Lawl. Also, this entire chapter made me laugh.

Wow, what an unexpected turn of events. It's not like people have been predicting the fact that our resurrected friends would die this chapter so the aliens could prove a point.
Also, I'm expecting the next chapter to include:
-Kei tries to kill the alien, but is stopped -"Philosophy" for the rest of the chapter
Mark my words.

You forget the possibility of Kei dying and then everybody starts crying about it. Or maybe they'll do something with Kei 1.

I doubt Clonerono will die and I sincerely doubt we'll be seeing Kei 1 so soon. I predict a few more chapters in the most boring room in the universe.

My Prediction: Some sort of boring shit happens in which a relatively confusing but, in all honesty, solid philosophy is offered up which offends people as they come to the hurtful but completely true realization that there is nothing at all that makes them special. That they can be completely and totally studied, copied and then disposed of at any moment in their existence. People complain to each other and in especially butt-hurt cases, to the magazine in which Gantz is published. But the magazine doesn't give a fuck, because, really, it's Gantz. No one in their right mind is going to even step to Oku Hiroya with any shit, because he will actually dickslap them, and then proceed to create a philosophical theory on why dickslapping is essential to prove one's existence. Oku Hiroya makes this face as his wife/husband gives him a shoulder rub as he reads butt-hurt hate mail from ex-fans : [/img]
Oku's/the alien's philosophy is solid, yeah, but why the fuck should it make the characters all break down in tears at being told humans aren't special? Atheists there would be like "Yeah, what's your point, alien? We already know we're not special. There's this thing here on Earth called the Capernican Revolution and it's been going on for hundreds of years" and theists would be like "Yeah, what's your point, alien? We've already been told we're not special by the atheists. There's this thing on Earth called the Capernican Revolution and it's been going on for hundreds of years. But despite all the evidence to the contrary, we still believe in God and that humans are special".
My point being, the alien doesn't present any new, ground-breaking about humanity's place in the universe. The assertion it makes has already been made by various humans at various times. Why would hearing it from an alien make people break down in tears? Atheists won't care, and theists won't believe it. Are we supposed to believe that all the people that cried in 269 and 270 (the end of 269 made it look like that was most people in the room) are so stupid that they've never even thought about this kind of thing? And not only that, but that whatever beliefs they do have are so fragile that one person contradicting them will cause those beliefs to crumble? And that, despite the fact that they were too stupid to ever think about this kind of thing in the first place, their belief systems falling apart is such a huge blow to them that they break down crying?
NOTE: Seeing a dead friend crumble and splatter apart in front of you probably would make someone break down crying. That's fair enough.
