One Strength: Creative - Lassiter is a master of using his surroundings to his own benefit, through camouflage, traps, and weapons themselves. This extends beyond simple guerilla warfare, allowing him to make battle plans that would confuse any sane-minded general or commanding officer. He also has a creative side to him outside of war as well, enjoying painting and writing war novels based on his experiences. He has written many stories about alien invaders pushing earth down into the trenches and then the earthlings strike a key blow, making the aliens retreat.
Remember to Answer all that apply:
- How does this strength effect your character physically? It has caused his body to become slightly stronger than an average soldier. Whereas a normal soldier carries only his equipment, he carries his equipment and anything he thinks might be useful later. He also has to manipulate his surroundings in order to better use them, so he is used to moving small trees and stones to camouflage his tracks or himself
- How does this strength effect your character mentally? Mentally, Lassiter has become almost obsessed with creativity. Simply shooting an enemy almost never occurs to him. He enjoys leading them into traps, showing them they have no hope, and then destroying them. This has left him thinking NOTHING is easy and if something is easy, they did it wrong.
- In what way would this benefit others working alongside your character? It causes confusion among the enemy and can lead to victory with minimal losses, though he really doesn't care who lives or dies, as long as he got to watch his game unfold.
- In what way would this NOT benefit others working alongside your character? It causes confusion amongst allies as well, since he only gives partial commands instead of explaining entire plans. He does this so that, if he is sending them to their death and they survive, it will seem like part of his plan, so they won't try to kill him later.
One Weakness: Becomes easily attached to people, and to enemies, whenever he sees an act of selflessness.
Remember to Answer all that apply:
- How does this weakness effect your character physically? One of the main problems with Lassiter's weakness is that he instinctively pauses whenever he sees an act of selflessness. Someone giving their life to protect another causes him to physically freeze in place for about half a second. Though not long, on a battlefield, it could mean death.
- How does this weakness effect your character mentally?
Once Lassiter is attached to someone, he becomes very fond of them and will even disobey orders to kill them. He heavily tries to protect anyone that committed a selfless act, and respects even their corpses. He has a slight kindness to those who are protected, but more often than not, he dislikes them and himself, for making the selfless person give up their life. He will kill the protected in a heartbeat if given the slightest provocation, unless it is a last wish by the selfless person that he help them.
The other downside is the opposite of the previous. If someone commits an act of selflessness on his side, Lassiter will do everything in his power to bring down the one responsible, going as far as to shoot them outright without leading them into traps.
The most severe mental part of Lassiter's downside is his loneliness. He easily becomes attached to his team mates and, if he is all that is left alive, will become "shut off" from people for a good time. In this mental state, everyone is an enemy. - In what way would this benefit others working alongside your character? Revenge for their death? and Care for the wounded.
- In what way would this NOT benefit others working alongside your character? Respect for selflessly fallen enemies, causing him to protect them even against his own allies.
Appearance:
James' outfit is pretty generic for a soldier. Most of his specialized equipment was in his backpack when he fell into the pitfall, so all he managed to bring with him was his kevlar vest, his CQC knife and a machete, which was strapped to his leg. His uniform is mostly intact. He has forest camouflage pants and a forest green/brown pattern sleeveless shirt. His boots are still covered in mud and dirt, tied with velcro straps instead of string to avoid getting caught on branches and such in the jungle environment.
His body is rather well built, as expected of any mercenary who is worth hiring. His muscles aren't huge, but they are clearly visibly and shaped. His arms are rather hairy and his hands are covered in cuts and scars, as are the rest of his arms and possibly more, though it is hard to tell with the clothing on. James' face is cut up a bit, though not as severely as his arms or hands. His hair is dark brown, almost black, and his eyes are brown as well, helping him blend to the dirt of the environment. His skin is rather tan due to spending a lot of time in the field.
His distinguishing markings are a pair of snakes, one on each wrist, biting their own tails. The other 3 markings are, on the left bicep,a White sun, and on the right bicep is a Black moon. His back has a black circle with a golden/orange halo of light around it.
Remember to Answer all that apply:
- Does your character have a preferred style of dress? Describe it. Usually, he is in his military attire, listed above.
- Does your character appear intimidating, average or preferably approachable at first glance? Due to the scars and the tattoo's, he seems rather unapproachable at first.
- Is your character attractive, average or ugly? Average - Lassiter has a well built body and an average face, but his body has quite a few scars covering it. A few scars cover his arms, hands, and face.
Personality: James' personality is rather awkward. He is very friendly with his allies, but unless he has seen them being selfless or generous, he truly does not care whether they live or die. He is generally calm and actually takes a sort of pleasure from battles, and is generally not very upset when an ally or an enemy dies. To him, they are strangers until he gets to know them better or sees them risking their life for another. He is a very creative and open-minded person, thinking up strategies to use people as best as he can, without much death on his side, though he understands some death is unavoidable.
After spending some time with people and getting to know them, however, James' personality is rather different. He is easily attached to anyone he considers a friend and tries his best to make sure they survive their missions. He can stand to loose strangers, but when he looses a friend, James becomes erratic in his behavior, being easily angered and prone to violence.
Remember to Answer all that apply:
- Is your character shy or are they outgoing? Outgoing
- Is your character a leader, a follower or a balance of the two? A balance of both, due to being a squad commander for the mercenary camp. He had fighting combat and followed superiors orders, but also led his squad.
Background:James was born to a moderate family in America. He was a pretty average kid and joined the military at the age of 19. By 21, he had graduated boot camp and was sent overseas. It didn't take long for his entire unit to be taken out by a barrage of various weapons when they hit the shores of the jungle. It took about 3 months for his squad to be taken out by mercenaries, though it took them a full year to capture James. Out of respect for his skills in hiding in the enemies own turf, they offered him an ultimatum. Join the mercenary camp and be reported as KIA in his home country, or be sent back in a pine box. He chose to group with the mercenaries.
It didn't take long for him to rise up to squad leader. His creativity and the vast jungles allowed him to beat most enemies without even being seen. By the age of 23, he and his squad were sent on solo-ops mission to infiltrate and terrorize enemy camps. At 23 he was also sent against another mercenary camp. It would be his last mission, as he fell into a pitfall trap dug by the other mercenary camp, impaling him.
Cause of Death: Shot.. Repeatedly. Then drowned and impaled... Yeah, life sucked for the few hours it took him to finally die.
