Entry Two: Anime...

Well here is my first new entry.

Anime, probably one of everyone's favorite or least favorite things in this world. I love it and i sure as hell know who hate it. It might be one of the greatest fears a normal religous freak would have, shows with boobs, language, violence, and robots the size of HOLY SHIT, destroying things. So to sum it up yes, anime is awesome...

And now here i go pissing people off. Okay, i will be frank, there has only been one show that has really Changed things for me in the world of anime and manga, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. This may sound odd to you but yes i can tell you why. Okay, so everything follows trends and popular plots, right. Classics like astro boy, speed racer, akira, and etc.etc. are coppied everyday. Example. The end of the first Naruto series (battle a the valley of the end) was simaler to the main plot of akira. Naruto and sasuke were our modern day Kaneda and tetsuo. Makes friend/rival. ONe gains power and wants more, while the other trys to stop his buddie. There are many more examples of this but i am too tired right now to go into detail about them. Eva combined the angest of other series with gundam. This might be taking it a little over board but GANtZ IS a copycat of a series called BATTLE ROYAL. Bobobo is actualy a copy cat of Fist of the NOrth Star, but mangaes to bring so much random shit to the table that it is its own series, not a wannabe.

Another bad habbit is overly long series. I admit that dragon ball z could have actually LESS fighting. . GO AHEAD KILL ME, STRIKE ME DOwn AND I WiLL BECOME MORE POWERFUL THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE.

One that everyone can agree with is the filler arcs... and a part of me just died a little for watching all of the naruto and bleach ones.

Another thing we need to deal with is the angsty characters that get wayyyy too much screen time. i am eyeing shinji from eva, and kikyo from inuyasha or KIK-HO(bitch) wait, bad joke...*slaps self* i mean she gets another chance at life,yet she bitches about how inuyasha has moved on, imean seriously. And shinji just needs to have his balls drop, becuase rei actually has more testosterone than he does, he-who-chokes-chicken-to-coma-tose-girls...pervert.

Redemptions of anime... these series do 90-100% of things well including cliches.

okay here is a simple list...

Gurren Lagann (BOOBs, explosions, giant robots and KAMINA, how can you go wrong?)
Battle Royal(students killing students, how FUN!)
D. Gray Man(exorcist warz)
Gantz(of course)
Ga Rei (the characters and plot direction makes the bleach series look like shit)
Akira (psychic and motorcycle action!!!)
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo(FIST OF NOSE HAIR!!!)
Darker Than Black(Name says it all)
Fist of the NOrth Star (so manly that it makes CHUCK NORRIS look like a wuss)
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

these get my stamp of approval...(READ GA REI!!!)

you make alot of good points but uh I have to disagree with the whole hating of copy shows when in reality there are only a couple kinda of shows that are different from each other in every story theres a hero and a villian some times the villian is a friend to begin with and in other there not.

In the end its always a huge big battle between good and evil no matter who wins sooooo everything is a copy of something you can look at it any way you want but somewhere it is a copy from something else I mean. maybe im getting your point wrong in what Im saying but Im just trying to say that the valley of the end fight was a copy of that yes but its not like it hasnt happened before ya know example superman clark kent and lex luther use to be friends when they were kids and in the end clark defeats lex luther same difference clark doesnt wanna hurt lex because he sees good in him same thing as naruto and sasuke I mean theres so many copys out there that theres no reason to dislike something cause it copy's something else

oh and also dragon ball z should have been longer imo what I would have changed in that series is made more fighting per episodes and less charging up altho its not that bad after he does the transform ya know its not like 20 episodes later it takes him as long to get to ssj3

well some times it is okay, sometimes not.

Battle Royale had isolated Jr. High School classes gassed and placed on an island to fight other classes. If the classes didn't do as commanded, they all died. If someone tried to escape, their collars would be detonated. After being briefed, they're given survival packs containing a map, compass, flashlight, food and water, and a random weapon or other item, which may be anything from a gun to a paper fan. It’s a form of propaganda to prevent organized insurgency groups.

Gantz selected people at random - after death - and offer the people participating, in these ‘hunts,’ a second chance at life. Clean slate and new. No bodily damage or scars (they’re copies of the originals). The participants have to kill Aliens in order to gain points to either be freed, given a stronger weapon, or have someone revived from the memory bank. People who in game are stored in Gantz like a computer does with files, or a fax machine. The hunters cannot be seen by bystanders on the ‘other’ side (same goes for the aliens) in the beginning of the ‘game’ until the storyline progresses. It’s world wide, as well, and as far as the manga says, it’s the Germans in charge (again).



I think the plots are similar, and have a root theme, but aren’t exactly the same. I feel that GANTZ is better than Battle Royale on several points. I’ve watched the movies, and I’ve read the manga, but it didn’t really keep me interested like Gantz has been for me. I read Gantz in two days, watched the anime in one sitting while I waited for a call. The story is told better, as is their approach to the underlying plot.

Western and Eastern media (TV shows, anime, cartoons, comics, manga) tend to have plots (very skeleton-based outlines, like a single moral, or a purpose) that are shared or have been influenced by others. I want to reread Akira (I read it when I was a freshman in middle school), so I’ll do that later. Naruto was okay, but the only characters I liked (save one) have died. I didn’t keep with Naruto after Kimimaro’s death, except for some stuff involving Shino.

What irks me about anime is the fanbase and fillers. The fangirls that go crazy if Naruto or Sasuke were to lock lips (*herk*), etc. The people that go crazy over the shows and are bent on coupling characters that aren’t gay, or won’t canonly work. The fillers grind too much on the reader/watcher, and tends to break or better the anime depending on the filler. Bleach fillers are better than Naruto fillers, btw. Some of them even have character development. But, then again, I skipped most of the fillers in the beginning (I went back after reading to the most recent bleach chapter).



Gurren Lagann - I didn’t get into it enough.
Battle Royal - Read it all, thought it could’ve been much better.
D. Gray Man - I can’t remember if I read this or not (it seems familiar).
Gantz - My current favorite.
Ga Rei - Never heard of it before, might read it.
Akira - Read it when I was much younger, I have an old comic book of it somewhere.
Darker Than Black - Never heard of it.
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo - Idiotic . I don’t see the purpose of it.
Fist of the North Star - Never heard of it, but if it’s like Bobo, then I’ll skip it.
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei - . . . O_o.



The animes that I like are listed below:

Gantz - Packed full of character development, twists and turns, gore, violence, breasts, etc. Very realistic in its own light, while also twisted with scifi. My current favorite.

BLEACH - Good development of plot, powerhouse characters (Bleh, Ichigo), enjoyable antagonists with both flaws but, you can’t help but love ‘em. Violence, moderate gore, clean.

Yami no Matsuei (Descendants of Darkness) - Mmmmm. Short, but very satisfying regarding plot and character development. Nice twists and turns, and a sad ending (very enjoyable, but it’s a cliff hanger).

Blue Submarine No. 6 - It’s old, but it’s VERY good. Apocalyptic storyline with enjoyable character development. Bloody violence, nudity, mutant beasts.

Mushishi - Down to earth type of Anime that isn't 'hard core' as the rest, but in a plot base, it's quite original in itself. It features creatures called 'Mushi,' which are very simplistic life forms that have supernatural qualities. Like, ghosts. Or single celled creatures. It has a main character, Ginko, who is played by the English voice of Roy Mustang from Full Metal Alchemist. Characters are recycled, and it doesn't . . . uh, jump everywhere. There's no fillers, no massive arcs. To my knowledge, it isn't long.

The entire Ghost in the Shell anime, movies, and Manga. FFFFF. God, I love cybernetics. |3. They're just THAT EPIC.

Hellsing, Vampire Hunter D and VHD: Bloodlust, Outlaw Star, FMA, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood., Trigun, Lupin the Third (BEST Japanese to English voice acting and plot), Big O (though it seems like a mixture of Batman and Gundam). Ughn. A bunch of others, but I can’t name some right off top of my head. But, yeah.

Other than that, I'm not into much anime or manga. I prefer Western comics, etc.

Okay no. one, fist of the north star is so old, your dad knows it. it icame out in the 70's and has so much testosterone that it will let you grow a second dick.

second, Blue Submarine No. 6 and mushishi are epic and classic.

third, outlaw star got me into this whole anime mess and turned me into the nerd i am today.

fourth, i fcking love western comics. i collect dc, marvel and dark hoarce.

happy i am getting responces, since this is what this blog is about, voiceing everyone's opinion on everything, but more people need to comment on the youtube one...
