...Role-Play Gantz Logically?
WTF!?!
That's a paradox. Gantz is a completely unrealistic, unpredictable situation. As such, while it's illogical for a guy with no combat experience to think like a grizzled Military expert or anything of the sort, but people trying to be superman? That shit is going to happen ALL THE FUCKING TIME. And Kurono, Hikawa, Kato, Kaze, Old Man, Sakurai and pretty much every other character in the series has proven that playing superhero can, and does work. Assuming you don't decide to run into a tank or something.
The people in Gantz are people who are chosen, presumably, for their will to survive. Sometimes, surviving is not for a selfish purpose, sometimes it's to save other people.
Anyways, my point is, if a character has combat experience, utilizing BASIC combat strategy is not unrealistic. The fact that, for the most part, those who have done the same exercises, the same goddamn pattern of dodging, ducking, rolling, blocking punches and throws and kicks, WILL do it in the Gantz Missions. It will be second nature.
"Steve saw the X-Gun. He picked it up. He aimed it at the alien and pulled the trigger 5 times. He cloaked. He zig-zagged away from the alien."
1. True enough, Steve would probably have to experiment at least a BIT to properly use the X-Gun. I'll give you that.
2. "Hey, the weapon that guy who killed fifty other aliens just dropped is over there. I better avoid it cause you know, it's completely logical to think "That guy is doing well because he's better prepared. I better not try to do that too".
Come on Dawg, seriously?ANYONE with a frickin brain would pick up the weapon some other dude was using , it's just plain intelligent. It's how ALL the hereos in ANY Zombie movie, ever, survive.
3. Refer to Number 1.
4. Assuming Steve has ever taken any sort of Martial Art, the first thing they teach you is never to stand still. Standing still causing you to relax, this means you are not prepared to dodge, or block. I learned, in Karate, anyway, that the best motion is not straight forwards, it's just too easy to deal with, so I sort of, do these little jumping steps diagonally. I don't know if they teach you to do the diagonal step again and again in other Martial Arts but I know they teach you to keep moving.
Anyways. I see where you're coming from, but you're being completely over the top, I mean, are you seriously trying to make sense of the situation of Dying, going to some kind of magical room, getting instructions to kill some sort of weird ass monster, being given weapons alongside personal insults, and then being teleported to god knows where? I don't know about you, but if I knew nothing about Gantz, and that shit happened to me. Whatever I did, would be making sense.
