Appearance: Matachi is an old man, who looks like he's on his sixties. He showa many scars all over hos body, and the number keeps rising on every mission. His long gray hair covers his marked face, and it's normally a mess, much like his wrinkled clothes.
Bio and Personality: Furude Matachi never took the time to talk about his origins with anyone, mostly because after so many long years in Soul Society the memories of his days as a human had almost left him already, since his very own subconscious, which is known to bind the painful memories as a method of protection, had repressed the memory of those days. Still, even as the mind forgets, the soul never does. And so the old man lives his second life as a soldier, just as he did on his first life as an ashigaru, a peasant serving his lord on the battlefield.
After several years of service, the old man thought he could settle down in a small, peaceful village. Find a good woman, build a family, raise his sons, live the rest of his life happily. The daimio, however, thought otherwise. Time seemed to fly as the lords waged war across Japan, until it finally reached Furude's village. His two sons were called out to battle, and as his wife had passed away many years before, the old man decided to go along with them to keep them safe.
The three of them stood proud on the front lines, the two young men one at each side of their father. The charge began and Furude's sons rushed ahead, leading the attack. They were fueled by the heat of the battle, and so they could not see the reason why the second line halted and started running back. Three long line of muskets, aiming right at them. Furude saw the first round of musket fire reach his sons, piercing right through their armor and into their bodies. While the second infantry row ran back to the lines in panic, the old man rushed towards the bodies of his fallen sons. Holding them into his arms, he howled as if he was the one reached by the bullets that had killed the pair of young ashigaru. A second later, more bullets flew through the air, taking the veteran down. Furude Matachi died lying besides his sons on the blood stained battlefield of Sekigahara.
Matachi is an wise looking old veteran. He often gives advise to the members of his division. Normally, he is calmed and light tempered, but as soon as the battle begins, he looses himself in it, rampaging on everything he identifies as an enemy. Despite his reckless fighting style, the experience from many battles give him the advantage that lets him go back home alive.
In Battle Characteristics: Furude truly looses himself in the heat of the battle, quite literally in fact. He ravages through his enemies with his weapon while shooting fire kidou in all directions. Despite his dangerous fighting style, developed in many past battles, both before and after dying and going to Seireitei, he keeps coming back alive fro the most dangerous missions, almost entirely harmless. (That was sarcasm.)
Zanpakutou
Zanpakutou Name: Ikijigoku (Living Hell)
Sealed Zanpakutou: Furude's Zanpakuto is a old lookign katana. Much like himself, Furude's katana looks like it has passes throught numerous battles, the blade, tsuba and tsuka have marking that show obliously that the sword has taken a lot of damage from many fights, and hadn't recieved a proper care.
Zanpakutou Looks: Ikijigoku is a black draconian, who lives in the inside of a volcano in matachi's inner world. He wears an armor made of volcanic stone.

Release Phrase: Let them burn, Ikijigoku!
Shikai Appearance: Ikijigoku takes the form of a naginata. It has a black wooden handle and a wide long blade.
Shikai Abilities:
Ability: Honooken (Flame Blade): Ikijigoku's blade is engulfed with flames, which once searated from the blade, will continue birning for two rounds even if they have no combustible material to burn.
Attack: Shoukyaku (Destroy by Fire): By doubling the reiatsu cost of the spell, Furude can channel a fire-type kidou through his naginata, greatly increasing the power of the spell.

Bankai Name: Fukyuu Ikijigoku (Eternal Living Hell)
Bankai Appearance: Matachi's Naginata's size increases, the blade changes its form to a more vicious one. Also, Furude's lower body and his right arm is covered by the same volcanic armor Ikijigoku's manifestation wears. A pair of wings grow on Furude's back, allowing him to fly.
Bankai Abilities:
Ability: All of the naginata's strikes produce a small explotion of fire.
Ability: Furude's armor is made of molten rock, therefore burning anything that it touches, except Furude.
Okibi (Blazing Fire): Furude can maximize the power of a fire kidou, expeling it from every part of his body by paying four times the cost of the spell. This leaves him exhausted for some time, not being able to cast any more kidou for two rounds.
Goubatsu (Eternal Punishment): Furude can shoot a blast of fire from his mouth, incinerating any object touched by the fire, making it burn for a minimun of two rounds. This ability is extremely comsuming, leaving Furude unable to use any abilities of spells for two rounds.
