Background: Kyle was born in the United States to a U.S.-born father and a mother who moved to America from Japan. He grew up speaking both English and Japanese, and enjoys both English and Japanese literature, as well as manga, anime, and video games. He moved to Japan at the age of 21, spending his last year of college at a Japanese university. He double-majored in (English) Language Arts Education and Japanese. He was lucky enough to be hired straight out of college, but he still feels like a fish out of water in Japan, despite coming up with the idea of moving there in the first place.
The first time Kyle ever saw the person who killed him was right before the man caught him in a headlock and snapped his neck. Kyle had stumbled across the man drugging and handcuffing a middle-aged woman while taking a shortcut home through an alley, which he usually traversed in peace. The man shot Kyle with a taser before he could scream (but not before he got a good look at his killer), then finished him off.
Cause of Death: Neck broken by a serial killer (who is yet to be caught)

Note: Kyle generally hates killing things (he doesn't even kill insects that many others would swat without a second thought), but he has no problem with killing in self-defense, and he is undecided on the issue of capital punishment.
