To be honest while it may be true that Kurono has guts, Mad-Crazy Skills and probably the badass of 1000 Men, I find it very difficult to believe that he would be able to duke it out evenly with Hikawa. I find it even more so impossible to believe that the Yokai Alien actually moves at Lightning Speed. That wouldn't break the sound barrier, that would make the sound barrier it's bitch. Lightning Moves at 60,000 m/s (130,000 mph). Yea, that would kill everybody within a good twenty meter radius. The lightning Yokai is more likely going at sub-sonic speed.
Possibly a little bit over One Hundred Mile Per Hour, but not as fast as lightning. He would kill everybody by moving like two inches at that speed, the wind he he would make by braking alone would kill Kurono.
(To drive my point home, he's a picture of the Old Man grabbing the Alien after timing how fast he was going and in which direction)
If the old man could estimate and make a decision to grab hold of the Alien I think it's safe to assume that the Alien was simply going at a remarkably fast pace, not Lightning Speed.
Also, you forget to acknowledge that Most of Kurono's more fantastic victories are done with either some sort of assitance or with the help of his suit.
Kurono is not a particularly strong guy, nor is he particularly fast. If he was, he wouldn't be called useless by all of his classmates, by his family and his teachers.
During the Oni Mission, to help him take on the Boss. There was Izumi, coupled with Kaze and even Sakata (Sakata did the most, he took away his eyes. Which I don't think most people take into Account).
After his eyeballs were taken away the Lightning Oni seemed to stop moving at Super Human Speed and simply took to moving bashing shit with all the grace of a drunk elephant.
I would like to address the other Hunters next. To be honest, the Hunters that Kei is facing there, are not the Elite of the Tokyo Team. They are some of those that Kei trained himself, but if you bother to think that he also trained guys like Kaze, Reika, Sakurai, Old Man (Forgot his name) and Sakata you can see a plain pattern that among the Tokyo Team there are those who are more prominent when it comes to skill and battle capabilities. Kei is easily one of the Best Gantz Hunters in the Manga, but thats not because he is magically the strongest. It's because Kei never gives in, Most people buckle before the might of Aliens such as the Boss of the Italin mission but Kei Kurono stands tall and keeps on fighting. Thats his most amazing quality and I must admit, it's kind of Awesome.
But please don't go thinking that that particular quality is truly a physical ability, it's not. It's a magnificent Mind Set, thats all. Also some of it comes from the Suit, and by some I mean about 55%.
In all my time of Reading Gantz I have never discovered Kei Kurono dodging a Laser beam at Point blank range and then continuing to dodge the Laser Beam for another four pages. Find me this occurrence and we'll call it common or simple. Hikawa's abilities are completely natural for him. He doesn't need to psyche himself up, or even really think about drive or whatever. He kind of just dominates shit naturally.
And both men have shown a great tactical mind. When Kei Kurono was about to fight with Hikawa, he showed him something rather infuriating. And it worked, Kei took the bait only to be met with not victory, but death. And the fact that most of the Tokyo Team is alive is enough to show you Kei's tactical genius.
Also, who paid Kei's rent while he was dead?
(Still giving it to Hikawa my good man. Call what you will but I have faith in his badass dodging, swordsmanship and even more crazy poker face)
