Onion: Pretty bad, I'm surprised I actually managed to get through it. All the fanservice did help though. 3.5/10
Tanaka: Well done. It showed us another side of Kei, we got some character development out of it, Nishi seems more human and establishes the fact that anyonre can die (Which doesn't last long enough sadly) 7/10
Buddha: Good only because everyone dies in the end. Other than that it felt weird having Kei going through ANOTHER personality change and Sei is a horrible character. 5.5/10
Chibi: Great. I see this as the mission where the manga actually starts to pick up. 9/10
Dino: Not as good as the Chibi mission, but still pretty good. It assembled the main cast for the rest of the series which was done really well. 8/10
Ring/Tae: The Ring portion was short and horrible. I can't even talk about it because it literally lasted like two chapters. The Tae part was alright, but ti started the chain of events that soon turned Gantz into "DBZ but better". 6/10
Oni: Oh God. This was Gantz at it's best. Everythign between the start of this mission and Kurono's death to Host Samurai is waht makes part 1 one of the best mangas I've ever read. Excellent pacing, excellent character development and by that point the art is already well defined and there's no longer a shift. 10/10
Osaka: Quite possibly one of the worst missions in all of Gantz and a horrible way to start Phas 2. Kurono is absent, Katou steal almost all the attention, we're introduced to "badasses" that die rather quick and it drags on FOREVER by the end. It was boring, uninteresting (Sans the conversation Katou had with Nuri) and jsut wasn't fun. I don't get all the hype. 4/10
Italy: Short, horrible, stupid, useless, unnessesary (sp?) and did I mention short? It was like the Ring mission BUT WITH NO FUCKING POINT. The Sebastion chapters that followed were retty good though. 2/10

Onion: Pretty good. It was a good intro to Gantz. Had an interesting diversity of characters, and if you had not read a chapter of Gantz before, it would without a doubt introduce you to what kind of a manga you were going to read. Of course, without giving away the fact that it'll only get crazier as you go along. A lot of characters died, and the mission helped build plot development between Kurono and Katou. Plus it immediately showed you that these aliens aren't all "evil." 7.5/10 Tanaka: Good as well. It gave you some more insight into the whole aliens thing (with them needing robo-suits to survive in Earth's atmosphere). I think my two favorite things in this mission would be Kurono gaining some more balls and a kid actually dying (though it didn't show it). > The worst thing would be a veteran acting like a newbie. 8/10 Buddha mission: Definitely one of the greatest. Had a good diversity of characters, Kurono was finally just plain out bad ass (though it was just superficial). Sei Sakuraoka and Jyuzo Togo, both awesome characters that died while fighting heroically and awesomely. This mission gave you insight to how strong the aliens could be, and that almost anyone, if not everyone in this manga can end up dead. And I almost forgot, this was the epic, unnoticed by the characters, off-panel death of Butter dog. =( 9/10 Chibi: This one was good because it developed Kurono some more, and it was the only mission where there was only one Gantz player. It made you realize Kurono's bad ass-ness was shallow, and that made him more realistic. The aliens were not all that amazing, but it showed that they could be intelligent. 8/10 Dino: Definitely better than any mission so far aside from Buddha. It was the introduction of the new main characters for the Tokyo team. And, thus, the bad ass Izumi was born again. Not to mention this was when Kurono started to become a real bad ass. For realz. I think the worst thing about this mission would be the lack of deaths via the aliens. Though this was made up with the introduction of the vampires. Oh, yeah, and Kurono was kind of stupid toward the end. He just stood there thinking "I'm going to live and see Tae again!" While pointing the gun at the alien's belly, and this gave the alien time to fuck Kurono's shit up. The only reason why the alien did not was because the old man held him there, even though Kurono could have won before if he had just immediately shot, though I guess he had to take time to aim and lock on first, so nevermind. 8.5/10 Ring/Tae: This one was alright. It was pretty fucked up, and it depicted conflict between Gantz participants. 7.5/10 Oni: Oh, man, this one was so awesome. Full of action and even had a character death, though the death was not that important. Definitely set the limit for powerhouses and some more insight into the aliens and vamps. It was a weird changing point for Gantz, as the discretion was pretty much turned off, and there was no time limit, either, I believe. And of course, this was the first time we get to see anyone get 100 points. And the return of Nishi and Katou.... I think the worst part of this mission would be that it leads up to Kurono getting free, or maybe the lack of main character death's. Oh, and there are times where I am actually rooting for the main Oni aliens when I read this mission. Which is pretty cool. 9.5/10 Osaka: Definitely the best mission I've ever seen. The first mission without Kurono, which was a good change for things. And just when you thought the missions couldn't get any crazier, Oku fucking makes the Oni look like shit by introducing the Yokai. Two, maybe even three 60-70 point aliens and then a 100 point one on top of that? Two teams going at this at once? The army getting involved? OKA HACHIROU? ?? Him dying in that same mission? The only time I felt that way about someone dying was Jyuzo. And of course, the usage of 100-point weapons. Really, the only complaint I have about this would be that there was only one Tokyo team death, despite the fact that Nishi, Kaze, and Inaba got their shit fucked up. Well, at least there was one and he didn't get revived as of yet. 10/10. Italy: FUCKING AWESOME. First mission where there was literally teams from all over the world going at it. And they were still getting slaughtered like it was the Buddha mission all over again. Pretty decent amount of Tokyo team deaths if you consider how the Tokyo team death rate was after the Dino mish. I mean, freaking blood and guts everywhere. How the hell do you rip up a pretty much full working Gantz suit along with the user of that Gantz suits body with air? I mean, that mission would have been perfect if only it lasted longer. And once again, the off-screen death of Panda. Izumi would have noticed and raged for sure. Then I would have felt bad for whatever organism he would have took the rage out on. 9.5/10 I'll edit this once the current "mission" in Gantz ends.

Finally got time to do this.
Onion: As a series starter, it layed down enough ground rules without giving away the entire backstory. The killing of minor characters was well delivered and the wrap up for the mission was quick, but it was missing something. Still, it was enough to get me hooked. 5/10
Tanaka: This hunt was a favorite of mine. The sudden killing of one of the gang members and the introduction to the aliens were well timed and the actual hunt was very well done. It showed that children were not invincible, the other hunters were likely to be malicious to others slowly onward, aliens came in different shapes and sizes, and that anyone can die. 7/10
Buddha: I have a love hate relationship with this hunt. The actual fighting was good, but Kei was such an inconsistant person... Plus it showed me how much i disliked Kato, and sorta the fact that although the other characters had skills, they were still rather shallow. It still was shocking Kishimoto and Kato died, but that basically solidified that Kei would be the main protagonist forever. 6/10
Chibi: This is where it starts getting good. The inclusion of the aliens in normal life, and the fact that Gantz can greatly alter your chances of survival. The aliens were well done, with actual character, and the attack on the school was a nice unexpected twist. 9/10
Dino: Good for establishing the main cast and extended powers and alliances. Not much else here. 7.5/10
Ring: Sucked, short, basically a set up chapter 2/10
Tae: I liked the premise of morality between the hunters, but it over exaggerated the skill level of Kei and Izumi to almost super human instincts. 5/10
Oni: The payoff for all fans that stuck with the series ups and downs. A well paced arc with great antagonists, and the intro to vamps. Kei's death was unexpected, along with the revival of Nishi and Kato. The hunt was well paced, and it didn't feel cheap to read, as every matchup seemed balanced. Basically, in my opinion, the prime of gantz. 10/10
Nurarihyon: It was fun at the start, with the osaka team, but then the problem with nura is too fucking strong. It was just a long drawn out ending fight. Meh. 5/10
Italy: A great short mobbing read, but not much else. 5/10

Alright Here we go. ¡ The Onion Alien: It was the first mission and nice introduction of characters. The deaths were also pretty damn cool. Even though showing that aliens have heart was a foreign language to me but it worked out well. Also I wasn't into sc-fi anime/manga until I read Gantz and the first mission had me hooked. Overall: 9/10 ¡ The Tanaka Alien:For a second or two while reading this I thought that Kei was actually going to die. Then he goes off and show all his false courage and goes all bad ass on everything. Nice amount of deaths and nice to see that you can win a mission in Gantz without a suit. Overall: 8/10 ¡ The Buddhist Aliens:Easily one of my favorite missions. Anyone whose a fan of Gantz will probably say the same. This was the first time one person survived a mission. ( Even though Nishi stated that in several other missions he was the only one to return.) Alot of deaths and most of them from the characters we started to care for. (For me it was Kato. He's a big softy and I almost cried when he died.)I like the fact that despite Kei's bad ass-ness in this mission he really only got eight points. The mission itself wasn't too long and drawn out and it was a good read. Overall: 10/10 ¡ The Chibi Alien:A big surprise here for me, was seeing Kei alone and actually act human. In most sc-fi alien movies, games etc. the main character act all bad ass then go Rambo on everything and kill them wasting little to no time. This was different. The fact that Kei displayed human emotions was a huge shocker for me. After the Buddhist Mission I thought he was going down that cliched road but then he goes and do the exact opposite of what I was thinking. Then at the end when his points got subtracted I was like OK you got me. I'm hooked. The mission while short was entertaining. How the alien followed him to school is still a mystery to me. It also had character development for Kei. Overall: 9/10 ¡ Kappe/Dinosaur Alien: First thought was "am I reading a Michael Bay book?" That what it seemed like to me. Alot of action and little story telling. Not that I'm complaining because the action picked up ALOT from the previous mission. Again Kei didn't have a suit but he showed his bad ass-ness. The fact that the huge Brontosaurus was worth more than the Kappe alien led me to believe that it was the boss and not the Kappe alien. Still lots of action, introduction of an old dude being bad ass and the vampires. They were my favorite part of the mission. Oh and Izumi. . Overall: 8/10 ¡ Ring/Tae Alien:The only reason I have to believe that they are called "Ring Aliens" is because they resemble characters from "Lord Of The Rings." Still they were surprisingly weak. I wasn't that impressed with this mission. I think the only reason Gantz made Tae an alien was to fuck with Kei. On the plus side the conflict between the team was a good change. It showed that some people are only out for themselves/points while others have hearts and will do whatever to save someone they care about. That was the only good part of this mission to me. Overall: 5/10 ¡ Oni Aliens:First thought was WOW! I liked the fact that this arc had lots of twist. The timer shutting off halfway through, the aliens actually waiting on the Hunters, the alien themselves being seen by humans as well as the Hunters, and the fact that the Oni aliens blend in so well with the humans it's like they were humans. After the last mission I was just about ready to say fuck-it and move to a new manga but this mission revived my love for Gantz. The character death was cool. Alot of action balanced out with good pacing and character development. Overall: 10/10 ¡ Nurarihiyon Alien:Ok first off the horrible pacing (Which became a recurring theme in Gantz) really took me out of this one. No amount of drug using teens or human on alien sex can change that. I was into at the very beginning then I was like OK just get it over with. The deaths were pretty cool. All of the new weapons and discovering that you can choose to stay in the game was a good twist along with the death of Kei. Seeing Katou take on the lead role was a nice change of things. I wanted to love this mission but every time I read it I just get so damn frustrated that it takes soo long. The aliens themselves shocked me by showing how deceitful they can really be. They were smart. Although I still wonder exactly how the hell did the boss alien manage to kill someone who completed the game seven times. Overall: 6/10 ¡ Italian mission One name comes to mind about this mission. David Lynch. What the hell is going on? I was like what happened here? Did the other teams win? Did they die? Why were they teleported there? What does this have to do with the story? So many unanswered questions. Overall: 5/10

I noticed how everyone dared not to touch the filler from the anime. And Fayrra and I have just about the same points of view on each of the missions. The latter made me laugh.

I refuse to acknowledge the anime ending. It was so stupid. If I had to rate it 1/10 and that's being nice.

Oh, come on. "Why did you save your teacher?" "She has nice tits." The filler ending was 'prolly just a joke by Oku, thus the hilarity.

The Gantz suits were pretty bad in the anime. They were purple! And I've been wanting to post in this topic for some time. So here we go. Onion: 6/10 Onion was good, as an introduction anyway. The onion kid had always, always grossed me out for some reason, the slimyness probably. Especially in the anime its sick. The movie rendition was probably the best one. As for the dad, I liked the homage to Freddy kruger. Thats more than likely what Oku was going for, New NightMare style with the black trenchcoat. Tanaka/susuki/Yamada/my favorite bird robot aliens: 8/10 Yeah I'm a sucker for this mission. I loved it. This was the turning point mission when I was starting out with Gantz. And it made me fall in love with it. Basically the whole fight that lead to Nishi's downfall. It was the first fight that I really enjoyed, and it must have taken me a few hours to get through it the first time because I was so captivated. Whether Nishi meant to step on the bird or it was an accident, his fate was sealed. This is one of the few aliens that can see you while you're cloaked, You got shot in the face before the mission, Nobody wants to save you, you're fucked. Still Nishi put up a good fight. Kurono going through this mission no suit and getting all the points is pretty boss aswell. Buddha: 9/10 Can't complain this is the climax of the Red phase pretty much. Extermination of the first team in one go. And we all know how good this team was. They would have made it too, Sei, Jyuzo Togo, The martial arts man, if it weren't for one thing; The 1000 armed buddha Boss. As far as bosses go this guy takes the cake and because of the difficulty and sheer epicness of this mission (Togo, Katou and Sei looking at you) I score this bitch high. So many deaths. Unpredictability has never been more relevant in a mission. Filler Kurono Hunt mission: 3/10 Yes I own the anime aswell as the manga so I'll score this piece of shite. It wouldn't have been to bad... if it made any sense. Why is Gantz doing this to Kurono? theory would be that Kurono threatened Gantz when everyone died, Gantz got pissed and decided to send him on his own to fight the chibi's. In this rendition his punishment is to be the next target. Thats how I put it together anyway. Could be wrong but it's filler so who cares. All in all I like the yellow haired filler character and the new girl. The Hobo hunters make me laugh (I'm sick). Ending is stupid, and it could have worked had they let Kurono live at the end, since all the filler characters died. Chibi/Shorty Alien: 8/10 Why couldn't this have been in the anime or the movie? Why? Whats wrong with it? Film studios and Gonzo you suck. Anyway I love how Kurono lone wolfs this mission. The panic he has at the start is priceless. The odds were definately stacked against him. I always wondered if Gantz was testing him or punishing him for this mission, or maybe he just really didn't have any new people and the Chibis arrived too soon. Whatever the case Kurono shows his will to survive. And Smart Chibi is so fucking Bad Ass as the Terminator, need I say more? Dino Mission: 6/10 Dunno, this mish is really overrated. I like it, it has all the new players, new team, which a lot would become staples. I think it has to do with the fact that none of them have thier suits on, yeah Kaze and the Psychics don't need them and Kurono has no suited before... but it just drags on. Giant T rex that shoot Fireballs chasing you on a Gantz Bike coooool. Not much really to say. I liked the introduction to the Vamps at the end. Ring Alien and Tae Hunt missions: 7/10 Ring Aliens went down like a sack of potatoes with decapitation. Very easily dealt with. What gives me some underlying hatred for this period is Inaba. He hates Kurono, jelousy yeah the guys strong powerful and gets his leg humped by Reika. So WHAT! You're a Gantz Player, you have your own suit, you could get strong make it your goal to surpass Kurono, don't wine bitch betray and hide behind Izumi. The groups split, Tae dies, I'm happy, I kinda hated Tae. Was going to give this a 6 but it has Izumi vs the Psychics and Izumi vs Kurono with Tae on his back so it gets a extra point. Oni: 10/10 The only mission that deserves a Ten. The reason being that it set the standard. It's like Buhhda all over again. Good team powerful enemy, only this time they pull it off! I like how the Oni's had variety in thier powers. And how well they matched up to the Gantzers they were paired up with. Who else could have defeated Fire Oni besides Kenzo and Sakurai? Nobody thats who. Morphing Oni had some creative kills and Rock Oni vs Kaze is such a fun fight. Finally The God of Thunder himself the Oni Boss seemed unbeatable. I read the fight over and over anylising what went down. And I can say that Kaze got the first shot, and that opened the door for Kurono to do some damage, Kenzo does psychic hacks, Kurono impales him and he and Izumi deliver the finisher. Talk about teamwork. Osaka, Nurarihyon: 9/10 The Osaka team opened up a can of woopass here holyshit. Blood, Death and Alien Rape. The Strongest Gantzer Oka, and the strongest Alein going head to head. Katou is back and it really feels like he and Nishi never left! No Kurono is a nice change of pace aswell. Theres a ton of things I love about this mission. Introduction of new characters, good fights, Inugami and Tengu. Some say that this was where Gantz started going overboard and that the Nuri fight drags on but I never really thought so. I would figure a 100 point Alien shouldn't die very easily. I score this high for the sake of the characters and the bosses really. Italy Roman Statue aliens: 7/10 Chaos. About sums it up. World War Gantz in this mission. People are dying, Swords break and your H guns your best friend. I like all of that but it was short, and the old man dies but Inaba dies too. Yes Oku had written this mission so well he was able to extract all my hate for Inaba and give justice to the character and for that I am thankful, thus the decent score. Invasion SGA Mustache Man mission: 9/10 lol didn't know what to call it. I'm reffering to the mission where everyone was transported by the Tokyo businessmen to attack the mothership. Kurono1 and Kurono2 face off against the blonde haired God of War alien while Mustache man Pummels the other Elite. It was dope and currently this is my favorite part of katastrophe. There.

The Hobo hunters make me laugh (I'm sick). Does this mean I'm sick, too? Another note: Which of the Osaka team's freaks was your favorite? I'm tied between the nymphomaniac and the heroin guy.

Kuwabara was the nympho. I forget the name of the heroin guy on the bike but I always liked him. He like most of the Osakans knew to love life and then lose it lol. But yeah I like Kuwabara and obviously Oka the most.

Oka was pretty cool. I wish it showed him getting ripped apart. That'd have been pretty cool. Doubt it, but I wonder if they'll resurrect him later along the line? He /is/ in one of the Gantz balls' memories.

Already been shown. In the special chapter Gantz Osaka 3. It shows what happens to the Osaka team and all the remaining hunters choose to be set free except Nerdo who wishes for Anzu to come back.
So yeah No Oka, concidering Gantz is dead, Osaka Gantz must be dead too not to mention the Osaka Gantz had no players left aside from Nerdo, Anzu and the little girl.
