You know I was re reading the manga again. And had George listened to Kuwabara and left Nuri for Oka to deal with. They could have won. Without the Tokyo teams help too imo.
Think about it. They just lost Knob due to thier selfish ways. Knob underestimated Tengu. Knob was supposebly the strongest one out of the 3. Then after he dies at Tengu's hands, Nuri shows up. After Nuri toys with K & G, Kuwabara says fuck this, and procedes to walk away. Then George doesn't listen and goes back and tries to Tanaka sqweese Nuri. WTF. He then dies a horrible death.
Imagine if they had both walked away at first. Oka could have weakened Nurari enough that they could have jumped in after and taken the beast down.
I mean Katou did most of the work after they were defeated. They didn't need to die. Their deaths did absolutely nothing. Remember this was nuris 2nd transformation into the giant woman made form. Which Nishi and Katou took down.
It just erks me and pisses me off at Georges stupidity. What could have happened. But thats Gantz I suppose.

Imagine if they had both walked away at first. Oka could have weakened Nurari enough that they could have jumped in after and taken the beast down. Do you think Nuri would have just let them walk away? And since you said without Tokyo's help, that means Katou/Nishi could not have stepped in and distracted him till Oka arrived. Meaning without Katou stepping in they would either have to fight or run. Running would probably work, but that would probably lead them away from Oka, meaning more work to find the 100 pointer, also meaning more time for the two to die/be incapacitated. It just erks me and pisses me off at Georges stupidity. What could have happened. But thats Gantz I suppose. Yeah, I know, why the hell would you go up close and try to squeeze something that can regenerate from sword slashes? It's obvious that they should have reached for the H-gun. I understand what you're saying, though. With the equipment they had they certainly had the potential to clear the Osaka mission without Tokyo's help. Their problem, as Halo said, was that they were too egotistical or they just preferred working alone (egotistical doesn't automatically = working alone). However, things like Knob telling Shimaki and Kuwabara to help him once he was trapped, or Kuwabara asking Shimaki if they should work together, makes me realize that the team wasn't all that hopeless. And definitely could have potentially worked together. If they had saved Knob from the Tengu, then all three might have been able to hold off Nuri until Oka came. Then those four (or whoever is remaining out of the original three) proceed to beat Nuri. You're right, they could have won, and without Tokyo's help either. It's possible and not too implausible with the strength they have/had.

Osaka could have won, but remember the one rule of life and gantz. Shit happens.
