Just a quick theory about what powers the suits.
Im thinking that the suits are powered by nanomachines. Unlike the Vampires, the nanomachines work with the caps of the suits to power the whole thing while Vampires are the results of nanomachines being directly absorbed into the body. This causes the mutation that are Vampires...

I'm going with the matrix idea - souped up coding in the mainframe.

I think it has something to do with some kind of static energy, like electricity or something. Remember how the suits got some kind of lightning effect when they got struck with an X-Shot? Also, the liquid can e some kind of conductor.

I think the electricity thing had more to do with the invisibility thing since it's via the controller. As far as I remember, the only reaction the suit gives when shot by an X-whatever is either nothing, or dripping goo when it breaks.

Lightning has to go hand in hand with invisibility, Usually when turning it on and off or losing it or taking damage while invisible.
The way I see it the liquid is some sort of shield that protects and flows through the suit like blood and stiffens when a gantzer uses the strength which explains the veins. I don't know what it could be made of, or how it protects the head. Maybe the nodes? The nodes are extra sensitive to being plucked though.
Nanomachines to me seem to be a vampire only thing.

Maybe the suit produces a layer of whatever stops people from touching the walls and doors in the Gantz apartment. That way, it protects the head too and the liquid is some sort of power conductor or fuel for it.

I was thinking some liquid that preserves Kinetic energy. The faster you move within, the more the liquid moves with you, the less energy you burn speeding up, and effectively letting you reach higher levels of speed and motion.

I'm sure there's a fallacy there somewhere.. How can less energy burnt equate to higher levels of speed/motion. Surely the more energy you put into an action, the greater power there is. At least that's the limit of my Physics knowledge.

All are movements are slowed by gravity, wind resistance, etc. and in turn waste our energy. If there was some way to reduce all those effects, then you could quite possibly get the effects of the suit. That's as far as my physics education goes. OR.... It could just be some super suit with some unknown alien technology.

He's wearing it, yet retains the suits power in his upper body.

Krypton had a higher gravitational density field and hence Superman and other Kryptonites can take advantage of Earth's weaker gravity fields to gain superstrength and powers etc. Not sure where the laser beams come from though.. Originally in the comics Superman couldn't fly but could only jump over tall buildings, though Im pretty sure the science bit wasn't figured out then.
