Name: Nakano, “Detective” Jin.
Age: Thirty-two.
Sex: Male.
Race (Ethnicity): Japanese and Chinese.
Height: 6'2
Weight: 206lbs.
Hair Color: Dark brown.
Eye Color: Light almond.
Language(s): English, German, and Japanese.
Career: Detective. Decorated badge, at that.
Inventory: Semi-casual suit, trench coat, badge, hand gun, wallet . Cigarettes, book of matches, and lottery ticket. Not a winning number (or maybe it is).
One Strength: His one strength is his experience, and the skills he gained from them. On a case, he is focused and precise – a force to be reckoned with. Since becoming a cop, he gained an expertise with guns and tactics, allowing him to be a leader figure if it were to be required of him. He sees anyone that attacks him as a threat–and not just to himself, but also his ‘squad.’ His training grants him an edge with his reflexes, and of course the athletic physique. His knack is physical-based fighting.
One Weakness: The bonds he makes with both the people around him, and his family, tend to become a liability more so than something beneficial. Being a family man tends to make cases regarding children (appearing/acting/actual kids) hard and more personal for him to work with.
Before Gantz: During one of his raids, in America, a gunman guarding the targeted compound had shot his right knee before Jin had cleared the area for his comrades. His right knee is weakened from the injury, despite having gotten surgery to better it (but with Gantz, this weakness is no longer a problem).
Appearance: Jin Nakano appeared in the room standing in defense, donned in his semi-casual suit, coat, but alarmed and ready for a fight. Being a fairly tall man, nicely athletic (but not excessively so) with short, dark brown hair. His light almond eyes register only one state of mind: alertness, ready to kill. It could easily be assumed by the huffing manner he appeared with that he faced death in the most certainty. All he remembered, and felt before being brought here, was the sensation of sudden cold and the gush of warmth from the center of his chest. Confused, perplexed, but still in the alarmed state of mind he was before.
Personality: Jin is a man of manners, respect, reservation, and fatherly responsibilities. He holds his family as number one priority, considering them above all and most everything. A man devoted to his family. He would be willing to quit his job if his wife requested it. He’s a man of grudging and bitterness, though, finding it hard to forget or drop former troubles with certain types of folk.
Depending on the people around him, he would keep his guard up even if it weren’t asked of him. He doesn’t trust people who might fall into the category of sexual predators or drug users. Since being a homicide detective, he’s fairly desensitized to gore and violence, already knowing the world that he lives within isn’t gentle or caring. He is an agnostic man, though not believing in ‘God,’ per say. Last, but not least, he is a man with a sense of justice and judgment, albeit biased in some way.
Background: Jin Nakano was born to a rather good family in Tokyo, Japan–his father being a decorated commander of a police squad and his mother a woman with strict morals and a strict household, despite being gentle-hearted. When he was ten, his younger brother, Dai, came into the world. With the new family member came new responsibilities for Jin. Instead of being slow-and-steady, Jin’s father nudged him to do his best, and of course, nothing short of his greatest effort. About nineteen, finishing school, he attended a police academy. From then, he spent nine years climbing the ladder of his career–struggling with gambling and drinking along the way–until reaching his rank of Detective.
Becoming a detective was an ambition of his, but he couldn’t quite quell a desire to move–to venture into a different realm where he could better root himself. One day, he got up and moved to America. New York to be precise. Got a nice detective job working for Homicide, settling down with a young, woman (twenty-five) whom taught German to a highschool classroom. Eventually, gracing his wife with a boy and girl into the world.
His old ties to Japan brought him back to his homeland, only to lead him to Osaka, Japan to where his brother, Dai, twenty-two, worked. His brother, having connections to Yakuza, knew Jin had debt to certain people. Knowing his brother had such a high ranking, and assuming he was a good opportunity to get money from, confronted him with a group of three or four Yakuza men (all of which were his friends) and whomever decided to tag along. With both the brothers at odds between each other, there isn’t a shortage of motive for Dai to attack, or for Jin to lash out. The ending resulted a Yakuza dead, his brother beaten badly (if not hospitalized) and a gun shot through his own sternum. And, of course, collapsing and bleeding out.
Cause of Death: Exsanguination (bleeding out) by gun shot.
Place of Death: Osaka, Japan.
Death in Gantz: to be filled by the mod.
