Thats my opinion.
He alone braught DB back to life after the frieza saga.

LMAO.
Why? Please, at least, list a detailed amount of reasons. For my sanity, at the very least.

I was gonna go into detail.
First of all. We all thought Goku was the only super saiyan ever. And he busted his ass off trying to kill frieza. Then this kid walks in and runs over Frieza with his sword slashing awesomeness.
The twist was that this kid was Bulmas son. The child of the 2nd character in DB. It was so random and Vegeta was his old man. WTF. That was so great. He's Vegeta done right with a heart and sword.
And my favorite movie was the history of Trunks. This guy grew up in a post apacolyptic madworld where he and Gohan are the only two Z senshi left. He was trained by short haired 1 armed super saiyan Gohan. He trained with him and him alone. Which I found amazing. Later on he goes back to his time and sees imperfect Cell and kills him on the spot with very little effort. He's just great. And seeing him in movie 7, 8 and 9 made those movies that much better aswell.
He's also the most popular Dragon ball character in Japan. And that says something. I just love Future Trunks.
Chibi Trunks on the other hand is horrible. And is spoiled and will never grow up the way his future andriod saga counterpart did.

His list of feats aren't that amazing, though. Goku would have killed Frieza quite easily as well.
His upbringing was good, I'll admit that. He's nothing like Vegeta at all. His heart and sword are just further evidence of that.
His personality isn't that in-depth either, and he was kind of naive (when he tried to take on perfect cell, thinking he could win because he increased his power level, also increasing his muscle mass). His character was an interesting twist, though I personally almost never like things that involve traveling in time. So, even though interesting, it was rather clishe-ish. His sword as a weapon choice was good, though it didn't do anything when he faced stronger characters.
I'm sure its obvious by now, but I have to disagree. Trunks will never be the best anime character of all time, to me. There's just lots of many other interesting characters out there. Though, there is more interesting manga characters than there is anime, in my opinion.

One of the best but not THE Best. Trunks was amazing and the history of trunks movie was the best. Sure it was slighlty cliche, but so well done it didn't matter.
