Whenever someone finds out that I read Gantz, and I tell them what it's about their initial reaction is always...What the Fuck?! What kind of shit is this? Have you gotten that sort of reaction?

Yeah, I've gotten that reaction before.
Actually, all my "friends" think I'm crazy so they expect that kind of stuff from me.
Unfortunately, it doesn't bother me in the slightest.
Also, I'm going to move this to the Gantz board. If that bothers you then just say so and I'll move it back. ; )

From the people who have taste? No. By people who don't read good manga yes. If you don't like action, boobs, and gore then I feel sorry for that person.

Welp, I have a lot of confidence, I'm an animator and I'm not a weirdo, so when I tell them that I watch anime, they state their disdain for it or tell me what anime they watch. Depending on the reaction, we either begin talking about anime or we move onto something else. If anything, I treat it as a hobby and introduce it as that rather than as a creepy, anti-social lifestyle.
Its all about the delivery, really. So if you chose to tell people, simply pitch it to em like anything else. They don't have to be interested in it and neither do you have to come off obsessed over it, but it shouldn't be treated as if it were a crime to mention when it's something you honestly like. People seem to take it better that way and you'll be surprised how many people may share your interests.

I don't really talk about anime or manga with my buddies. I'm more of a video game and movie type of guy. But there are times when I do bring up Gantz, though I don't tell them what it's about unless they ask and I don't say it's about boobies and blood. I actually give them a resonse that justifies Gantz and doesn't make it sound like some kind of 12 year old's wet dream.
